Located on the Swiss side of Lake Maggiore, these two islands offer a unique experience of tropical gardens, spectacular views and fascinating history.<\/p>\n<p><strong>A botanical garden unique in Europe<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Brissago Islands are home to a botanical garden with over 1,700 species of exotic plants from every corner of the world. Here you can stroll among <strong>palm trees, bamboos, tropical flowers and rare trees<\/strong>, in an atmosphere that seems to transport you to another continent. The lake's mild microclimate allows these species to flourish, giving visitors an incredible variety of colours and scents in every season.<\/p>\n<p><strong>A place steeped in history<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The islands were transformed into a botanical oasis at the beginning of the 20th century by Baroness <strong>Antoinette de Saint L\u00e9ger<\/strong>, who created a veritable green paradise there.
